Lend A Hand

We hear it all the time, and we know it to be true from the way it feels when we do it.  Helping others is one of the greatest acts we can perform in this life.  Whether it be as simple as holding a door for a stranger caring a box of papers, or being there for a loved one during a time of great fear or anger.  You can get that tingle in your skin as if a power greater than life itself is reaching out of the sky and patting you on the back by just being a “good” person.  You may think that “good” is subjective, but I disagree.  I believe that there are things in this universe that are inherently “good” by they way they spread a feeling of warmth and love throughout those who encounter them, regardless of their faith.

I’m not a Christian but I recently read some words from the bible that stuck with me:

Matthew 22:37-40

37Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment.39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

If there is anything of value to take from the Bible I believe it is this:

“Love your God with all your heart, and Love your neighbor as yourself.”

Whatever you believe in, whether it is one God, many or none at all; believe it and love it with all your heart.  And no matter what you believe, Love your neighbor as yourself.  Because good deeds never go unnoticed.  Being a good person is achievable whether you have $1 or $1 Million.  It’s the little every day acts that ad up to a life well lived.

Be a good person every day by lending a helping hand to those in need and you will find yourself going to sleep happy and satisfied with life.  I guarantee it.
